Event: Critical Mass Ride, Colorado Springs, CO

What:  An easy-paced group bicycle ride to raise awareness of cyclists and their rights to the road.

When:  Last Friday of every month, 5:30pm.

Where:  Wooglin's Deli is the meeting place.  Wooglin's is on the corner of Tejon Street and Cache La Poudre, just north of downtown and across Cache La Poudre from Colorado College.

Additional Info:  This is not your typical group bicycle ride, full of spandex clothing and expensive bikes.  Critical Mass rides are open to anyone, but in the Springs the participants tend to be people who use their bikes daily and care about keeping motorists' awareness up.  The ride leaves from Wooglin's at about 5:45 or 6:00 and does a few slow passes through downtown CSprings.  On occasion there will be a political or social theme to the ride.  People from all walks of life and people with all kinds of bicycles are welcome to join the ride - you'll see underground punk people, college kids, restaurant workers, bike geeks, middle-aged folks, and hipsters.  You'll see old Schwinns and Raleighs, road bikes, mountain bikes, BMX bikes, and department-store specials.

Don't live in Colorado Springs?  Critical Mass rides are a global phenomenon.  Many cities across the States and around the world host regular Critical Mass rides.  Ask your local bike shop for more info.  If your town doesn't have a CM ride, start one!  There is no organizing body, and no one is in control of Critical Mass.  All you have to do to start one is pick a date, time, and place, and get the word out!

Note to CM organizers:  If you'd like, send info on your town's CM ride to us, and we'll start a public list of CM rides around the globe.  Use the contact link above.
